Adult mild TBI
Biomarker presence, TBI specificity and time-course after injury across Finnish central hospitals.
Traumatic brain injury · Point-of-care diagnostics

The unmet need
TBI diagnosis and treatment are unmet needs in medicine — today there is no non-invasive, power-free, point-of-care tool to assess the extent and severity of a traumatic brain injury. Nearly 5 million US emergency visits each year involve head injury, and up to 90% are mild TBI, many undiagnosed.
How ProbTBI works
No imaging, no central lab, no specialist. ProbTBI brings an objective biomarker result to wherever the injury happens.
A non-invasive body-fluid sample at the point of injury — no needle, no scanner.
A proprietary glycan biomarker binds on a lateral-flow cassette.
A clear positive or negative appears in minutes — no instrument.
Positive indicates injury — escalate care. Negative is all clear.
ProbTBI™ rapid test
No imaging. No central lab. No waiting. ProbTBI puts an objective, biomarker-based answer in the hands of first responders, emergency teams, sports physicians and GPs.
No biomarker
Negative
No brain injury detected.
Biomarker present
Positive
Brain injury indicated — escalate care.
As easy to interpret as a pregnancy test — positive or negative, no instrument required.
Clinical evidence
Biomarker presence, TBI specificity and time-course after injury across Finnish central hospitals.
Accelerated recruitment at Turku University Hospital; comparison to orthopedic and healthy controls.
Large paediatric cohort with suspected mild TBI — validating the test in young patients.
“We have the opportunity to develop a portable, non-invasive test for quick detection of mild TBI and concussion — and thereby help patients and families who so desperately need it.”
Frequently asked
ProbTBI uses a non-invasive body-fluid sample taken at the point of care — no blood draw, no imaging, suitable for adults and children.
The cassette shows a positive or negative result within minutes, interpreted as simply as a pregnancy test. Positive indicates the presence of brain injury; negative means no injury detected.
